EquiYoga
Yoga on the yoga mat in combination with Yoga on the horse!
This course is meant for those students who wish to extend their yoga skills - or their riding skills - into new dimensions. Internationally known professor of yoga Dona Holleman, director of the Epona Yoga Studio, and Portuguese trained riding master René Berger, director of the riding stable Sebino Cavalli and the pony club 'Crin Blanc', guide students into experiencing body and mind in novel ways. Both yoga and riding are meant for growing, mentally and emotionally, and for developing physical skills that go beyond the daily activities. In these aims the two disciplines aid and complement each other perfectly.
The first part of the lesson is dedicated to yoga on the yoga mat. The use of the pelvis is explained in detail and illustrated with various exercises. The importance of the center of gravity is emphasised, and how to make each movement in reference to this center. Dona has spent fifty years practising and teaching yoga, and has been riding since childhood. She is convinced that the combination yoga-riding enriches both disciplines and can help the student to find new dimensions in him or herself. The principles of practice, as described in Dancing the Flame of Life, are applied equally in yoga and riding, and show the student a way of life that goes beyond both.
The second part is dedicated to the horse. Touching animals that are so big, and at the same time so docile, we realize that force is not always connected to violence, but can be peaceful and comforting. Brushing and cleaning is a relaxing activity, and greatly appreciated by the horses.
After having brushed the horses, we put the saddle and mount. Walking quietly we have all the time to experience new sensations of balance with the help of René, applying all that we have learned in the yoga lesson, but this time on a moving 'yoga mat', the horse.
This opportunity is open for all levels of yoga and riding. Bring your own yoga mat and comfortable clothes in which you can practice yoga and ride, and sneakers or riding boots.
Happy trails to you!!!
